Eden Grinshpan’s Chanukah Jelly Doughnuts


1 cup Whole milk

1 packet Instant yeast (around 3 tea)

½ cup plus 1 tea Sugar

3 ½ cups All purpose flour

1 ea Zest of a lemon

1 tea Vanilla

1 tea Salt

2 ea Egg yolks

1 ea Egg

6 Tbsp Unsalted butter, melted

Vegetable Oil for frying


In a small pot over low to medium heat, heat up the milk until it just starts to simmer. Remove from heat and transfer to a bowl with the years and a teaspoon of the sugar. Mix well and let sit to allow the yeast to bloom, around 5-8 minutes.

In an electric mixer with a dough attachment, add the flour, lemon zest, vanilla, ½ cup sugar, salt, 2 egg yolks, 1 egg, milk with yeast and start mixing. When things start coming together, add in the melted butter and mix until the dough forms a ball around the attachment.

Flour a clean surface, remove dough from the bowl and begin to knead. Knead until the dough bounces back when you touch it.
